“Adjustment optic” helps alignment without synchrotron light. A laser beam defines the main optical axis of the system.
Synchrotron light is collected by M1 and further transported
along the beamline. The optics is laid out for 1 to 1 imaging of the source up to F3. The diffuse visible contribution on the first focusing mirror is illustrated here for 6 mA current in the storage ring. The contribution near the first focal point F1 at 400 mA here.
At the first focal point F1, a movable window system separates the UHV of the storage ring from the beamline vacuum. The main flange is equipped with four IR transparent windows . Pneumatic drives allow to bring each of the windows into the optical path.
There are 3 equivalent focal points F3 available (one at the time) for the coupling of light into FTIR spectrometers or other experiments.
